Hi Friends!
Welcome back to Author Annette Dasofy’s second part of her fascinating interview. In part one we went over the book I had won on Goodreads and learned a good deal about it including what Annette had learned from writing it and what was most fun. So if you’re interesting in reading the first part about Circle of Influence please go to part one and read it. If you comment you will automatically be put in to win one of her books. The contest is not over till this coming Saturday MN Eastern Standard time.
Let’s start with some blurbs. It is always exciting to read them.

Doesn’t this look exciting!!
CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE
Zoe Chambers, paramedic and deputy coroner in rural Pennsylvania’s tight-knit Vance Township, has been privy to a number of local secrets over the years, some of them her own. But secrets become explosive when a dead body is found in the Township Board President’s abandoned car. As a January blizzard rages, Zoe and Police Chief Pete Adams launch a desperate search for the killer, even if it means uncovering secrets that could not only destroy Zoe and Pete, but also those closest to them.
LOST LEGACY
On a sultry summer afternoon, Paramedic Zoe Chambers responds to a call and finds a farmer’s body hanging from the rafters of his hay barn. What first appears to be a suicide quickly becomes something sinister when Zoe links the victim to a pair of deaths forty-five years earlier. Her attempts to wheedle information from her mother and stepfather hit a brick wall of deception, one that brings into question everything Zoe knows about her late father, who died in a car crash when she was eight. Or did he?
Police Chief Pete Adams fears Zoe’s inquiries are setting her up for deeper heartbreak and putting her in danger. As Zoe and Pete inch closer to the truth, they discover that a missing gun links the crimes which span more than four decades. But the killer isn’t done. Two more Vance Township residents fall victim to the same gun, and when tragedy strikes too close to home, Zoe realizes her family is in the crosshairs.
BRIDGES BURNED
Paramedic Zoe Chambers is used to saving lives, but when she stops a man from running into a raging inferno in a futile attempt to rescue his wife, Zoe finds herself drawn to him, and even more so to his ten-year-old daughter. She invites them both to live at the farm while the grieving widower picks up the pieces of his life.
Vance Township Police Chief Pete Adams, of course, is not happy with this setup, especially when he finds evidence implicating Zoe’s new houseguest in murder times two. When Zoe ignores Pete’s dire warnings, she runs the very real chance of burning one too many bridges, losing everything–and everyone–she holds dear.
So here we are on question five in part two of my two part series in Annette Dasofy’s interview with me.
5-CBJ.-I think you have two books out now. What is the second one’s name and tell a little about it?
AA.- The second Zoe Chambers mystery is Lost Legacy and is a story of my heart. It deals a lot with family dynamics and a series of mysterious deaths over a period of 40-some years that all become linked to a present-day death. And they each have links to Zoe. The part of the story that I’m emotionally bound to is Pete Adam’s father, Harry, who has Alzheimer’s and who is dropped off with Pete by Pete’s sister who needs a break. My dad had Alzheimer’s, which is a horrible, horrible disease. I wanted to create a character to honor my dad’s memory, that was entertaining and likeable enough that readers would want to spend time with him even though there’s nothing likeable about Alzheimer’s and its effects. It was a huge challenge. I’ve been told I got it right, though. I hope so. Also as a further tribute to my dad, I donate a portion of my royalties from Lost Legacy to the Alzheimer’s Association.
6- What is the fascination of Zoe Chambers for you? Is it just that she is a fabulous character or what? Can you talk to this?
As I mentioned earlier, I love living through her. She’s not me by any means. She’s had a much rougher past and family life than I have. As a result, she’s got more guts than I do. Its fun for me to step into her world and inside her head and say and do things I wouldn’t have the nerve to! Plus Pete is kind of a hunk.
7- What has been your publishing journey with this series? And with the first book?
Oh, my. It’s been a long and winding path for sure. At the time I started writing Circle of Influence, I had an agent for another series, which never sold. That agent and I parted company. I started querying Circle to other agents and was garnering a lot of rejections, as per usual when another agent approached me about the first series again. By this point I had started Lost Legacy, but I put it aside to work with the second agent on revising the other series. It STILL did not sell, and I parted company with that agent, too. I didn’t know whether to continue to query the first series or Circle and the Zoe series. Hank Phillippi Ryan gave me some wonderful advice during a car ride around that time. She asked me “What is your passion?” And I knew then I had to move forward with the Zoe Chambers series. I got nowhere with agents and started querying small presses. Henery Press signed me shortly thereafter, and it’s been a fabulous relationship.
8- What can we expect from you next?
The third Zoe Chambers mystery, Bridges Burned will be released April 7. And I’ve recently signed a new contract with Henery Press for three more Zoe Chambers books! I’m currently writing the fourth one.
9- Where can we find you on the web?
My website is www.annettedashofy.com. I have a blog at http://annettedashofy.blogspot.com/. I invite you to “like” my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/annette.dashofy and follow me on Twitter at @Annette_Dashofy.
Wow! Annette! I don’t know whether to congratulate you on your good fortune of signing on with Henery Press or thank you for letting me feature you here on my blog! ( so I’ll do both. Congrats and thanks. ) 🙂 I am honored that you would take time out to answer these quest ions for me and spend time with us. I know I was hooked by Zoe in Circle of Influence when I first read it. And can’t wait to read the others. I did not know how lucky I was when I won, Circle of Influence at Goodreads.
So here is the fun part! The give away!
The book of your choice goes to the lucky winner of the person who comments and also follows this blog. The lucky winner would have a double chance if she/ he tweets about this post and Annette Dasofy and another chance of winning if this post gets on their facebook page. So there could be three extra chances to win. It works by me putting your name in the hat one,two or three times in the hat depending on what you tell me about how you promoted this post and Annette Dasofy. You are on your scouts honor.( But I might check you out on facebook or twitter if I have time. 🙂 )
And here is Annette’s bio:

I’ve enjoyed reading both parts of this interview and would love to win one of Annette’s books. If I do, though, it will be hard to pick which one because they all sound so good.

Enjoyed reading the second part of the interview. I admire Annette for her perseverance and tenacity. The excitement of having an agent loving your book, signing you and then parting must have been difficult. I think you are such a beacon for others. You listened to your heart and the Zoe series found a home. I’m intrigued by all of your novels.

Yes, it was a two part interview and this is the end of them for Annette. A few weeks from now I will feature Donna Martin a fellow kidlit author in a one part interview. It will just be one post because it is not so long. I hope you will like it. And I’ll put you down for the drawing on Saturday and let you know on Tuesday if you won.:) 🙂

They sound like some very exciting books! They are a bit out of my age reading range so don’t count me in the drawing.

Thanks, Erik! they may out of your age range but there isn’t anything in there that would make you embarrassed or grossed out. I won’t add you to the drawing though . It was last Saturday and I will announce the winner tomorrow. Please come back then.
Thanks so much for your generous comment. I always love it when you visit. 🙂
