George Washington’s Birthday/ Perfect Picture Book Friday/ #PPBF

Hello Friends!!

Welcome to a new year! Did you do resolutions and a word? Or just a word? I ‘ll chose my word now. I guess my word could be work or industry because of what I have to do to revise my memoir. Doing PPBF is just a break from the real work of revising. In fact my new goal is doing one chapter week. Which means cutting out the bloat or breaking up the chapter in more parts because right now I have too many documents for each chapter. In a way it is good to have. Better more than less.  

During my break I wrote “The End” to my first rough draft of my memoir. Instead of feeling very glad and excited, I realized how much more work I had to do!! But of course it is a milestone. I also read a lot. See my Goodreads link , https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/4151463 , And for good luck, I did not include those I read since 2014 because I haven’t caught myself up yet to include those.

But let’s go to the fun part shall we? I’m early for this week’s theme but it snowed yesterday so I am right in the mood for this week’s Perfect Picture Book Friday.

Title: George Washington’s Birthday, A mostly True Tale

Age appropriate: from preschool to seven but I as old as I am even enjoyed it

First Three Sentences: “When George Washington went to sleep Friday night, he was six years old. When he woke up on Saturday, he was seven. It’s my birthday he thought. Happy birthday to me.”

Themes: Historical fiction, president, George Washington, experiences most kids have in birthdays.

Summary: On George Washington’s seventh birthday, he does chores, misbehaves, and dreams of a day when his birthday will be celebrated by all.

Resources: There are so many resources to this famous birthday that I didn’t know where to start or what to feature. Why I love it: From the title one can see that it is a mainly true tale with some myths. Actually there are a lot of myths in this mostly fiction tale. What makes it almost true is the fact sheet that completes the back matter of this adorable almost historical picture book. I am vying for a place in the historical theme of picture books because of this.
