“Charms” the Anthology.

Hi Friends!

Charm Anthology

Charm Anthology

Did you know I was one of several of our friends to have stories in an anthology?

My two stories that I wrote are about my son Eric, though might be true but aren’t. I just chose him for the main character because I think of him so much. He’s the one in Washington State so far away from me. I miss the kids when they were that age.

The titles of my stories came from the charms of butterfly and hummingbird. And I just flew from there, writing up a storm. It was so fun not worrying if it were going to be published or not. The one drawback is the books, Volume One, Two and Three are not on Amazon so people who may want a copy, have to notify the contributors or authors to get one ordered for them. And of course all the marketing is up to us as well. So far no one has wanted me to buy a copy for them. I did however buy a bundle for myself at Christmas for presents for my nieces and nephews. And brothers and sisters.

But since they aren’t on amazon no one knows about the books unless we constantly advertise about them and I don’t think anyone is. I sure don’t want to.

Robyn Campbell did a post on this before Christmas. If I had been thinking I would have done that as well. Here it is.  Please visit her post and tell her and I  what you think?

Here is some of what she says in the post. She tells about who else was in the book, that you may know and also the premise of the book.

This book has author friends of Theresa Milstein, Mia Milstein Sharon Mayhew, Lenny Lee , Susanna Hill, Cheryl Secomb,  illustration by Ellen Injerd (Cheryl’s daughter),and Clarike Bowman-Jahn. That’s me! And Robyn Campbell. http://robyn-campbell.blogspot.com/2013/12/every-charm-has-story-yall.html (Yay!! Robyn! )

As Robyn says in her post about what the anthologies are about:

PREMISE:

Imogen, Ashton, Joshua and Hannah, aged five, eight, eleven and thirteen, find a china crock in the attic of a house being renovated as a boutique hotel. Since the crock has no identifiable owners, they open it. Inside is a hoard of metal charms.

Each of these charms has an associated story or poem, which will be written by contributing authors. The charms come in a wide variety of anything from anchors to dinosaurs, elephants, hats, shoes, roses, clocks and so on. Each contributor received a charm by post or email, and the charm inspired a story or poem.

The stories stand alone, each having its own characters, theme, setting and period. The four children above do NOT appear in the stories. Neither does the attic setting. The linking text joins them so each story will address something of interest to one of the bracket-story children.

These anthologies are filled with the stories, poems, and illustrations of authors you know. The anthologies together make a fantasy novel but each can stand on their own. They are beautiful. You have to order through the contributors. I’ll be glad to order for you at cost + shipping. You’ll be glad you did.

What do you think? Do you want a copy? They make great presents. Please let me know in the comments if you want a copy. I was so fortunate to sell one at my author event at Cascades last week. The buyer wanted one specifically for the 4 to 7 age group which was Volume one. I was so glad I could give her one and autograph it for her. Let me know which Volume you want and I’ll love signing it for you.

Also let me know in the comments if have read any of these stories and if you like them. See you there!! 🙂

There won’t be too many plugs for this I promise and next week I’ll go back to talking picture books and memoir. This just needed to be said.

They range in Vol 1 as ages 4 to7: Vol 2 as ages 7 to 11 and Vol 3 for tweens. I have read the stories and they are wonderful. You can tell they are publishable content. Really professional.

So that is my pitch for the Charms Anthology. I hope you order yours today and tell me who to sign it to.

Take Care! Have a  great weekend!

XXXOOO See you on Tuesday!!

Hugs-hugs-hugs!!

  1. Clar, what a thoughtful post! I’m glad you sold one at your author event. I bought a set for our library. Great post. Wasn’t it fun? Are you doing Lucky Draw? I hope so. I’ve read the Charms stories too. They are so good. They were meant to be published. Weren’t they?
Hugs, hugs, hugs back, my friend. I hope you have a beautiful day! 🙂 xoxo
