My Versatile Blogger’s Acceptance Speech

Thanks to http://LaraDunning.wordpress.com/ and her Vampire Tracking Friday Flash blog for giving me the

Versatile Blogger Award

Versatile Blogger Award

versatile blogger’s award. Upon reading that I had won it, I immediately clicked on who had given her award and those preceding it. I hoped that my research would give me an inkling of an idea of the proper protocol. Yes, Lara’s post hinted at it but I needed to be compulsive sure. I am much honored to have been elected for this award since it is my first award ever. And I am more than happy to add to the ranks of other winners.

The protocol has been that all versatile bloggers who have gone before me tell seven little known facts about themselves and then pass the award on to five other versatile bloggers who deserve the award. So here are the facts.

1-     Once when I was two, my mother fished me out of a Dutch canal by my feet, my skirts holding my head under water. As drowning happens frequently in the Netherlands, she saved me from a wet and early death.

2-     My first movie ever was “Guns of Navarrone”. As a little girl, we were vacationing in Vermont and drive-in movies were still vogue. Since my father was a German prisoners of war survivor twice, he wanted us to know about WWII and thought we could all learn something by watching the movie.

3-     I was almost gored by a bull when I was eight. My best friend lived on a farm and I couldn’t tell the difference between a bull and a cow. I ended up running out of the pen for all I was worth.

4-     I wear two hearing aids. Hence the post of hearing only tidbits at the writer’s group meeting that was held in a coffee shop. That day I was still only wearing one.

5-     Every year I eagerly wait for my day lilies to open so I can put out my hummingbird feeder. Even though we only get one very ugly, cute hummingbird, the size and energy of this tiny creature always amazes me.

6-     I am a new Mother in Law. My oldest son just got married a couple of weeks ago after living with his partner going on thirteen years. Yes, that does make me old. Even though it’s not a little fact, not many people know about it.

7-     My husband and I watch an episode of “Criminal Minds” every night before we go to sleep. In the past I couldn’t watch anything with this much gore, but each episode has a happy ending and for now it satisfies our need for brain rot. And I like the character study.

Now for the passing on of the versatile blogger award.

1-    http://SpiritlightstheWay.com/  has a new and clever post a day which is just as likely to be something spiritual as a tribute to her Dad on Father’s Day in form of a poem. She often asks controversial questions at the end of a post after a teasing lead requesting commenter’s to “just write, no rules”.

2-    http://Pseu1’sblog.wordpress.com/ , blogs about her son’s studying for exams, to gardening, to attracting swifts and will also have a post on her evening’s musings. Once a week there is a photo prompt.

3-    http://JannaTwrites.wordpress.com/  blog writes Sunday posts of a religious nature on her spiritual journey while her during the week posts are often humorous tales of being a mom to two kids and what happens in-between. She also writes ethical what ifs.

4-   http://Suzicate.wordpress.com/  writes two blogs; one a straight poetry blog and one that rums the gamut of photo inspiration searching the meaning of who we are and what happiness means to meditations on the color red for lipstick.

5-    http://Schizophrenicwriter.wordpress.com/ , though heavy on getting others to write, this blogger has also written beautiful creative nonfiction pieces, held contests and has outlined her marketing plan for her latest children’s book.

Congratulations you have won the Versatile Bloggers Award.

    Clar ~

This post had me grinning from beginning to end . . . especially when I got to the bit about your daily fix of brain rot from watching Criminal Minds every night. 🙂

Except for the last (which is unfamiliar to me), I concur with the blogs you’ve chosen to highlight ~ Janna, Pseu, and Suzi are FAB reads every day. And THANKS! for the kind words about Spirit Lights The Way. So glad that you’re enjoying your visits to my little corner of the blogosphere.

    No rules. Just write!

I did my best with the links even going back into my word document to copy and paste the link back into the blog. Every time I post it is a learning event. So sorry the links don’t work. I ended up by trying some of them and i guess I didn’t go down far enough into the post. I will leave your and publish your above comment in hopes others are able to link to your blog that way. I tried to link them from inside the editor but couldn’t get it to work.
How could I have done better?

I’m so glad you enjoyed my acceptance speech. The Schizophrenic writer is written by author Bobbi Carducci who was writing one a day till she got too busy marketing her book, “Storee Wryter gets a Dog” and teaching writing classes online and in schools.
Yes, I do heartily enjoy your blog. Congrats on the award.

I appreciate all the help in linking that you are doing but no matter how often I try to link Pseu’s blog by doing all the things you have said, it comes out as saying it in percents or that the blog doesn’t exist because it has an extra / in it. I’ll go to her blog and apologize. It has to do with knowing html which I don’t , I think. At any rate, I have given up. I am learning as fast as I have time for and time is running out for today.

Yes, It happens often in the Netherlands as there are many canals just in anyone’s back yard. This canal happened to be in our backyard and Mom turned her mind on something else for a minute. My father also has a story about almost drowning when he was too young to know how to swim. Then as a teen he would jump over the canals with a volt (sp) stick.

Congrats ont he award, Clar! I enjoyed reading your seven facts. It’s always fun to read little tidbits that wouldn’t otherwise be known because they don’t really fit into a normal blog post.

P.S. Thanks so much for the shout out! I’m honored to be part of your list (especially since I read several of the blogs you mentioned and they are great!) It’s been a crazy week, so I’m quite late to this party. Seems to be the story of my life as of late 🙂
