About The Pennwriters Conference

Because I have been busy with other interests I have put off writing about this conference that is close to my heart, the Pennwriters conference. The writer’s conference runs from Thursday May 12th, through Sunday May 15th, 2011. There is till time to register. Go to www.regonline.com/pennwriters2011/ .

As a writers conference it has over 45 workshops and panels including those on:

  • Improve your craft
  • Genre know-how
  • The writer’s life
  • Know the business
  • Promote your work

I have looked at all the workshops and am in awe at how I can possibly choose among them.

Jacquelyn Mitchard, New York Times #1 best-selling author of The Deep End of the Ocean (Oprah’s first book selection) and eight other best-selling novels is the keynote speaker for Friday May 13th.

Jonathon Mayberry, New York Bestseller and multiple Bram Stoker Award winning author and Pennwriter member is Saturday’s Keynote speaker on May 14th.

If you are unable to go to the conference there are still many reasons to join Pennwriters. There are online courses like “Creative Nonfiction and Memoir Writing” online course, taught by Bobbi Carducci from June 1, 2011 through July 1, 2011.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend her memoir class last summer in person and I highly recommend it for all you Creative Nonfiction and Memoir writers. Look under www.Pennwriters.org to register.
